If you’re going out on Saint Patrick’s Day, then you are making a huge mistake if you don’t dress up for the holiday. I know it’s not Halloween, but the holiday is certainly a lot like Mardi Gras. People dress up for that, don’t they? The tradition for the holiday has certainly changed, and if you want to celebrate it properly then you need to change with it. Getting yourself an awesome Irish t-shirt and a crazy wig would be an excellent start.
Wearing green on St. Patrick’s Day is something that people have been doing since the 1600′s. That’s an awful long time ago, but when the holiday first came into being people actually wore blue to honor the Saint. Clovers and green are tied to Saint Patrick’s Day because clovers were a tool that the vaunted missionary used to teach the people of Ireland about Jesus Christ and the Holy Trinity. All the way down from those early days we finally get shots of whiskey and Irish pride tees. Weird, right?
The sheer variety of awesome Irish tees out there is pretty quite staggering. The reason for this is because there are just so many t-shirt vendors on the Interweb vying for the market that they will have shirts for nearly every occasion, including St. Patrick’s Day. Even if you don’t get all crazy with your outfit, you should at least participate in the festivities enough to wear a hilarious green shirt. You don’t want to get pinched, do you?
If you’re lucky enough to see me out on St. Patrick’s, then you’re in for a huge treat. I always wear a crazy Irish t-shirt, but I also wear all kinds of other insane stuff as well. Beads are always awesome because of the inevitable results that you get from throwing them at random ladies. I like to wear something really loud that makes me stand out too, like huge headgear or a massive wig that puffs out in every direction. Whatever you do, make sure you do your own thing and get wild with it.
I can’t tell you how much fun it is to be the guy who goes completely nuts on St. Patrick’s Day. I have never had more drinks bought for me and had more fun than the year I wore a green sequined tuxedo that I rented from a costume company. It was one of the best nights of my life. Almost everyone is going to be wearing their Irish drinking t-shirts on St. Patrick’s Day, but it’s the people who go the extra mile who will have the most fun.
